Meet Helen The Rooster
As you may have guessed from the name, Helen was a bit of an accident...an accidental rooster. We set out hoping to hatch a sweet little hen from our beloved Chicken Magma before her passing, but life had other plans. Out popped Helen, full of surprise and personality.
From the very start, Helen showed us what a good rooster could be. He watched over his ladies faithfully, making sure they were safe from every shadow and wing in the sky. He watches the sky faithfully and alerts when he sees anything that could be a danger. He adored his human family, tolerated his two loyal Aussie companions, and most certainly did not appreciate the cat who thought the flock was its playground.
Helen came from a beautiful family line of Blue Cochin, Black Cochin, and a touch of Ameraucana. Beyond his good looks, he had a good heart. He is steady, protective, and loving in all the right ways. He loves mealworms, watermelon, pumpkin, and the occasional fruit salad. He also enjoys a warm bowl of oatmeal or rice and corn in the winter. Though city life meant we couldn’t keep him forever, we are so grateful for the time we had. I hope he has found a great home in his adoptive family. We would love to hear how he gets along and any photos that you might be willing to share.

The adopting family emailed us photo updates and mentioned, "He is such a sweet roo! It’s obvious he was loved at his previous home. We really appreciate your help finding the perfect roo!" He now goes by the name, Kanga!
