Turn your backyard into a showcase of color and charm. Golden Laced Wyandottes are as striking as they are practical, combining stunning feather patterns with consistent egg-laying and a friendly, easy-going temperament. They’re perfect for families, homesteaders, or anyone who wants a flock that’s both beautiful and productive.
Feather Colors:
These Wyandottes are golden treasures! Each feather is edged in a rich black lacing over a warm, golden base, giving them a shimmering, almost regal appearance. The pattern creates a clean, uniform look across the bird, making them true showstoppers in any yard.
Egg Gifting:
Golden Laced Wyandottes reliably lay 4–5 large, light brown eggs per week. Their eggs are perfect for the kitchen or for sharing, combining quantity with the farm-fresh quality you expect from a happy, healthy hen. Wyandotte hens typically start laying eggs when they are four to six months old, and can lay up to one egg per day from spring to fall. They tend to lay better in the winter than other breeds. They are known for laying large, brown eggs, but some may be cream-colored or slightly brown and can have speckles.
Personality:
Curious, friendly, and calm, Golden Laced Wyandottes are great for families and beginner chicken keepers. They enjoy foraging, socializing with humans, and blending peacefully into mixed flocks. Their gentle nature makes them especially fun for backyard flocks with children or other pets.
History:
The Wyandotte breed was developed in the United States in the late 1800s, with the Golden Laced variety gaining popularity for its striking color and dependable egg production. Today, they’re celebrated worldwide for their beauty, resilience, and dual-purpose practicality.
Sexing Method:
Vent sexing as a day old is most common sexing method for this breed. The accuracy of being reliably identifiable by external characteristics on average is 85-90%. Several communities have laws in which roosters are not allowed. Thus, industry standard is to offer as a female chick or pullet even though 10-15% will be accidental roosters. We are DIFFERENT because we care for any female covered chicks that end up being a rooster.
We understand that several families live in areas where city ordinances do not allow roosters. While industry standard does not provide credit or rooster returns for roosters that were sold as 'pullets', we guarantee female sexing by giving the boy a home and providing store credit based on orginal purchased price should you accidently get a rooster. If you do not want to risk falling in love with a chick that turns out to be a rooster, we also offer the option of DNA sexing services. DNA sexing is a significantly higher investment as cost averages 3x that of a female covered chick.
