Frizzle Easter Eggers are a rare and gorgeous backyard delight. Their whimsical, frizzled feathers and ability to gift colorful eggs make them a perfect combination of fun, beauty, and productivity. They are ideal for anyone who loves unique chickens that stand out in appearance and personality.

You will receive one bird per quantity ordered, and feather colors vary; the color of your chick will be a surprise at pick-up.

Feathers
The wind-swept feather curls of Frizzle Easter Eggers are simply adorable, giving each bird a unique, playful appearance. No two frizzles are exactly alike—some chicks will have highly curled feathers, some moderate, and in rare cases, feathers may remain smooth. Frizzling is a genetic characteristic, not a breed, and can occur in multiple chicken breeds. Any breed paired with a frizzle parent may result in frizzled offspring.

The F gene causes feathers to curl forward instead of lying flat like smooth-feathered chickens. To avoid “Curlies,” which are birds with brittle, broken feathers, frizzle chickens are never bred together. Instead, a frizzle parent is paired with a smooth chicken, giving about 50% frizzled offspring. You may not know the final frizzle appearance of your chick until its feathers grow in.

Because their feathers curl forward, frizzle chickens require extra care. Their skin is more exposed, making them more vulnerable to pecking and feather breakage. They do not fly well, so roost bars and nesting boxes should be lower to the ground. They are less cold-hardy than smooth-feathered chickens and should be kept dry during winter.

Eggs Hens Will Gift
Frizzle Easter Eggers are kid-sized pets with a special talent for colorful eggs. We primarily hatch from hens that lay gorgeous aqua blue eggs, but on occasion, your hen may gift eggs in green, tan, pink, plum, or even yellow. Expect 3–5 eggs per week once your hen matures.

Personality
Frizzle Easter Eggers are friendly, curious, and affectionate. Their playful feather curls, colorful eggs, and social nature make them excellent for families, children, and backyard enthusiasts. Each bird has its own unique personality, adding charm and joy to your flock.

History
Frizzling is a genetic trait recognized worldwide, not a specific breed. Easter Eggers are hybrids developed from Ameraucanas, Araucanas, and other mixed breeds to produce colorful eggs. When combined with frizzling, they become a visually stunning and playful addition to any backyard flock.

Sexing Method and Accuracy:

Bantams are generally only offered as unsexed straight runs because their sex is not reliably identifiable until mature, and vent sexing is unsafe for bantam breeds. To assist families, we offer unsexed chicks with our female coverage option or DNA-sexed females. Without DNA sexing, plan for roughly 50% or more of your order to be roosters. Some families order extra female covered chicks to ensure they get the number of girls they want, returning roosters for a store credit to use toward organic feed, more birds, or flock care.
