🐓Meet Pedro (formerly Pearl!) - Our Surprise Rooster Looking for His Forever Flock ❤️
Pedro came to us as “Pearl” because we believed he was a little girl. 😂 As he has grown, Pearl has officially become Pedro, and our beautiful surprise boy is now looking for a safe, permanent home where he can continue doing what he already seems born to do, look after his flock.
Pedro is a gorgeous young Easter Egger-type/mixed cockerel with beautiful silver-gray coloring, rich mahogany-red wings, and the beginnings of adorable little cheek puffs.
🐔 Pedro is a natural flock leader and protector. He has always taken on the leadership role with our flock. As evening approaches, Pedro lets everyone know it's getting close to bedtime and helps make sure the flock gets safely inside the coop. During free-range time, he herds the girls together as they travel to and from the run and keeps track of where everyone is.
Even at his young age, he is already showing wonderful natural rooster instincts and takes his responsibility for his girls seriously. I think Pedro has the potential to become an amazing protector rooster for his own flock as he matures.
🍇 Pedro also LOVES his treats! His absolute favorite is grapes, but watermelon, cantaloupe, and green cabbage are also very high on his list. If you want to win this boy over, grapes are definitely the way to his heart. ❤️
Pedro has been raised as part of our family backyard flock from 2 weeks old and is accustomed to living with other chickens and around kids. He is healthy and has been very well cared for.
We are rehoming Pedro only because we cannot keep roosters where we live. We want to find him a safe, permanent sanctuary or home where he can have his own flock, continue being the little protector he clearly wants to be, and live out his life as a companion/flock rooster.
Pedro may have been an “oops” rooster, but he has become a pretty special little guy that we are heartbroken to have to rehome.
