To easily keep their water unfrozen, opt for the silicon heater.   The temperature of the 5 gallon drum silicon heater can be controlled by a thermostat in the range of 30-150°C (86-302°F ). For plastic drums, it is recommended that the thermostat be set below 37°C (100°F).  For use as a chicken water heater, we recommend the lowest temperature setting of 30°C.  For those that want to save electricity without the task of unplugging/ plugging in, a thermostat outlet can be added.  The thermostat turns on around 32-35F and shuts off around 45F-50F.
