With tears in our eyes we brought our Linus to the Gentleman’s club today to hopefully find a new home, new flock in a place where his crow can be fully appreciated! We adopted four chicks last year at the beginning of the Pandemic when we were all melting down between homeschooling, working at the kitchen table and isolation. These four chics brought great joy to our life as we watched them grow – but one of our girls Lila, turned out to be Linus. He lovingly became the man of the backyard and protected our other girls as they explored and pecked their day away in our gardens. However, his growing crowing was not as loved by our neighbors. We tried a crow collar; I sound insulated the coop… but his lovely voice rose above it all. Our neighborhood is unfortunately not a place for a rooster. With deep sorrow, we said goodbye to him with the highest hope that he finds a new wonderful home and new set of ladies to look after and protect. Many times, when the girls in our yard would wander off, he’d come to our back door and crow to let me know they were on the loose again. He always kept a watchful eye as they scratched for bugs in the garden. He LOVES left over corn on the cob, blueberries and strawberry tops and I think is he’s the most handsome devil out there!
