We adopted 4 chicks and one turned out to be a Roo. He‘ll be 11 weeks this coming Saturday and is a very handsome boy indeed. He crows nice and early, protects and looks after his flock mates, a fast learner and is genuinely a gentleman. Jon Snow is very sweet, will unabashedly seek out his flock mates for a snuggle or preening, keen to keep himself and his girls looking their very best and does well to keep a constant eye out for danger. He doesn’t overdo it on the crowing and generally is quiet, purrs when happy which is most often, especially now that he’s outdoors. At nearly 11 weeks, he’s quite healthy, stands tall, gorgeous feathering with iridescent purple on the neck and iridescent green-blue on the tail, not too weighty but weighted down enough that he won’t fly away, curious, tender, loves a good snack, will tolerate being handled if absolutely necessary but prefers to be on the ground to safeguard his reputation in front of the girls. Our Roo, Jon Snow, hasn’t even attempted to peck at our hands when handling (some of our girls do that!) He is very sweet and we really wish we could keep him. Unfortunately, we don’t live in area that allows Roosters.
