Unfortunately, “Dolly” turned out to be a “Donny”, or Big Bird as we’ve been calling him since since he was a fluffy, yellow chick. Big Bird, now 19 weeks old, has been raised by us since he was 3 days old. He has been handled frequently, and although a bit skittish during the act of picking him up, he is quite calm once you are holding him. He’ll occasionally jump up on your lap for a tasty mealworm treat and loves free-ranging with the ladies. He knows he’s pretty, and seeing his reddish-blonde crest feathers sway as he runs is guaranteed to put a smile on your face! We haven’t heard him crow yet, but sadly we live in an area with chicken-gender restrictions. We hope you’ll love him as much as we have!
