Back in November of 2019 we bought a house on 10 acres of prairie in Elbert County and "inherited" a flock of 12 free-range hens. As we learned about having chickens, and having a couple close calls with owls, foxes, and hawks, we realized we needed a rooster to keep an eye on things. We adopted Albert from Serenity Sprouts on October 10th and we're so happy to have found him! He's been such a great boy so far - literally being dropped into a flock of (now) 11 hens with virtually no issues. He always comes out of the coop first in the morning, lets the girls eat first, and keeps a sharp eye on things. He's also really great with his people! We're happy that we were able to give Albert a good home - here are some pics of him with his new flock:
