There is a need to interact with farm animals, promote respect for pets, an invoke compassion for the animals that sacrifice their lives for our nourishment. Continue education to reinforce that what you spend your money on is your personal vote on how you want the world to be.
Our long term Solution: Provide a rooster visitor area for families to interact with the chickens. Create a biosecurity walking path where visitors can go on an adventure and see the parents of the various breeds we raise while limiting any foreign exposure to our breeding stock. Develop curriculum for all ages to learn and excite guests with memorable life experiences.
What we are doing now: We are still at the designing stage. We are mapping out how much space each breed will need to stay in the area on a longer term basis. We currently only pen when we are breeding for purity and the rest of the time the flocks free range. I like chickens to be chickens so the design will need to accommodate spacious runs and free range opportunities. We currently offer hatching egg experiences for schools and homeschooling, egg hatching curriculum, and chickens for families that want their own backyard fock.
